Nahua Expeditions

How to sign up

On this page we’ve outlined the steps and relevant information you’ll need to reserve a spot in one of the groups:

Step 1 - Booking Request

The first step is by completing the Booking Request Form below. Each individual will be required to fill out their own Booking Request form. Once submitted, you can reload this page to submit a new form.

Please keep in mind that the form is only an application to join a group. We do not operate on an open reservation basis. Due to the remote nature of the expeditions and the challenges associated with them, our practice is to arrange a consultation call with you to discuss the trip in depth prior to signing up. Through this process we are dedicated to conducting a careful and thorough curation of participants, ensuring the best possible experience for everyone involved.

If you’re looking to join a trip waitlist, please submit the same Booking Request Form below, with your desired trip dates selected. When spots open up, we will notify guests via email in the order in which we receive submissions. Similarly for a group that is fully booked, we will notify you if a spot opens up.

Step 2 - Sign Forms

After we’ve had an introductory call, you will receive an email from us with a Liability Waiver for the trip, and a deposit payment link with instructions. This is a non-refundable deposit payment of 30% of the expedition total. For avoidance of doubt, no reservation can be confirmed until such time as the Liability Waiver and the Deposit are received by us.

The remaining balance is due at least 60 days (or as otherwise stated by us in writing) prior to the start date of the expedition. (Note: If you are booking an Expedition that begins in less than 60 days, you will be required to make payment of the full amount right away–as opposed to an initial deposit).

Payment & Cancellation Policy

A 30% deposit payment per person is required to hold your spot in one of the groups. This deposit is non-refundable. The remaining balance must be paid no less than 60 days prior to the Expedition start date. It is non-refundable, but is entirely transferable if either of the following outcomes are achieved:

a) We manage to fill your spot

b) You are able to find someone to fill your spot

In which case we will credit you the full amount (including deposit) towards any other trip that we run. Please understand that we are not trying to make extra money or cheat our guests. Short-notice cancellations make it hard for others who are on the waitlist to commit to trips with little time to prepare, meaning a spot will go unoccupied–and someone who wanted to join will likely miss out on the trip.

Step 3 - Prepare

Once a deposit payment and the liability waiver have been received by us we will send you a detailed Pre-Trip Package that will help you prepare for your adventure! We’ll also be available to schedule calls with you in the months leading up to the trip to help answer any questions regarding travel, gear, food, etc. that you may have.

We are here to help with each step of your journey and look forward to exploring this magical jungle with you! If you have any questions please reach out to us directly and we’ll be happy to speak with you.

Safety

  • The safety and well-being of expeditioners and guides is our top priority. Extreme weather events and conditions beyond anyones control could happen, even in the dry season. If it is too dangerous to safely venture down the river, we will assess the situation and wait for water levels to decrease before continuing down the river. Our itinerary leaves us some wiggle room in the event of a freak weather event. In such circumstances we can sit tight for 24 hours until river levels decrease, then continue paddling. In the rarest of events (i.e. multi-day storms) we may have to exit the canyon and explore other attractions within the jungle. Though this has never happened before, it’s worth mentioning and keeping in mind. We will not take any unnecessary risks.

Travel Insurance

All expeditioners are required to have travelers insurance. We strongly recommend a package that covers: Trip cancellation, medical expense, and emergency evacuation. Nahua Expeditions is not responsible for losses incurred due to any travel interruption (ex: weather, accidents, missed/delayed/canceled flight, traffic, airport conditions, acts of war/terrorism, pandemics/epidemics, strikes, etc.), passport, visa, family emergency, or illness/medical issues, amongst others. For your safety and ours, prior to trip commencement we will require proof of such insurance.

  • Trip Cancellation coverage is to ensure you will be covered financially if you are forced to cancel your expedition due to circumstances beyond anyone’s control, delayed flights, or extreme weather events impeding the group from safely venturing down the river, amongst others.
  • Due to remoteness and difficulty of access, rescues and evacuations can be extremely difficult without a helicopter. Our guides are outfitted with GPS communicators in case of emergencies, however it is required that everyone travels with their own rescue / travel insurance in the event of an accident. Should you require an evacuation, the expenses incurred will be borne by you. For this reason we recommend an insurance package that covers emergency medical evacuation. We can recommend insurance companies upon request.
  • As when traveling anywhere in the world, unexpected injuries, illness or accidents can happen–the risks aren’t limited to being in the wilderness. Choose a package that covers you for medical expenses in case you require them while on the expedition.
